Battaglin History

 

Giovanni Battaglinwas born July 22, 1951 in Marostica

In his professional career he has participated in 10 Tours of Italy, 6 Tours of Switzerland, 5 Tours de France, 1 Tour of Spain and 8 World Championships.As an amateur, he scored many victories, including the amateur Tour of Italy and the Tricolor Trophy, in addition to having worn the blue jersey at the World Cup in Mendrisio.
In 1973, his first Tour of Italy, he gained third place, turning heads immediately for his great quality passista - climber.In the same year he became the best neoprofessionista, thanks to numerous victories, including one at the Giro del Lazio. In 1974, Battaglin won the Tour of the Apennines and participated in his first Tour de France.Other wins in 1975 -included being the captain of the Jolly-Ceramic team, holding the pink jersy in the Giro for five days and winning the Copa Sabatina.

A year later came a stage victory in the Tour de France (Caen).In 1978 he won Coppa Bernocchi. And on to 1979, Battaglin was captain of the Inoxpran team and garnered several victories, including the Pantalica Trophy, the plate cup and Agostini cup.Wins at the Tour de France include the climbers jersey and the sixth stage.The following year he won the Milan - Vignola, Pecol the toughest stage of the Giro d Italia, the Milan - Turin and the Fifa Plaque.
Again he finished third in the Giro.

In 1981 he won the Vuelta of Spain and also won the Time Trial stage.In the same year, he won the 64th Giro d Italia after being the main protaganist in the mountains , taking out the stage of San Viglio..In 1982 Battaglin starts thinking about the future: his thoughts turn to that of a manufacturer of racing cycles.He retires from racing two years later



 Today, Battaglin operate out of Modern facilities in Marostica, building both Battaglin Road cycles and mountain bikes under the Full Dynamix name.
