Eddy Merckx Panasonic. This bike is not quite what it seems. The previous owner (who lives in New Zealand) had asked a friend in Europe to find a ‘team bike’ for him. This bike turned up as a complete bike, with full Dura Ace kit, Wilber wheels etc. It appeared to be a team 7 Eleven bike. However, when he came to sell it, I saw it and thought a few things didn’t match up. A check of the serial number confirmed that this was in fact, one of Eric Vanderaerdens 1986 Panasonic team bikes. Not any old bike, but bike number 4. The last of his bikes for 1986, his tour bike. This is the bike on which he won the green jersey in the Tour de France. The bike now has the correct components, and just needs to be repainted in Panasonic colours.
